The event brought together families from Afghanistan, South America, and Africa, coordinated through the Saltburn and East Cleveland Asylum Seekers Befrienders group. Minsteracres’ Peace Garden, set within their stunning 110-acre estate, became a haven for the day. Children dove into activities like hula hooping and circus skills, guided by the talented Bare Toed Dance Company. I watched a young boy master a spinning plate, his eyes wide with pride, while his mother, who’d clearly carried heavy burdens, clapped and smiled in a moment of pure relief. The parents, many of whom have faced significant trauma, found a rare chance to relax and connect. The Minsteracres team orchestrated it all with professionalism and warmth, creating an environment where every person felt valued and safe, like part of an extended family.
